Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
— Hebrews 10:24-25

Welcome to Victory

Thank you so much for considering a visit to Victory Church. Visiting anywhere for the first time can be daunting so here's a page to help you enjoy the experience and get the most out of your first visit. So who are we? Well, we are a contemporary and charismatic church affiliated with the Assemblies of God. We are a Spirit filled church and have a fun and lively service and church life.

Sunday Service

Sunday Morning is our main worship time it goes from 10-11:15am. It's a high energy service that starts with a short opening, then a time of engaging and inspirational music, some video announcements followed by a time of insightful and practical Bible teaching. We close with an offering and we ask everyone to fill out a Communication Card. You can expect to be finished in about 75 minutes.

Dress comfortable

York-Poquoson are known for water culture so we're a very casual place. Our only dress code is that you wear clothes! In the summer, we want you to stay cool but stay covered. Feel free to dress formally though you won't find many at our services dressed up. Pastor Jamé usually wears jeans and a dress shirt in the fall/winter and in spring/summer golf shirt and shorts.

What about my children

We love our kids! That's why we have the Victory Kids! It's a safe and healthy environment for them to experience God in an age-appropriate way. Infants to Preschoolers are cared for during the entire service. Sixth grade and older remain in the main service.

In Victory Kids, your children will laugh, learn and will meet Jesus on a level appropriate to their age. The Victory Kids team provides age-appropriate worship and prayer, theme-related snack ideas, review of the Bible story, and hands-on activity centers to practice Bible truths.

All children's ministries are located off the main worship area. When you show up to Victory Kids you will be asked to sign your child "in and out" at the kiosk in the foyer.  Once you sign in, you will receive a name tag with a number on it. That name tag will be required to sign out your child once the service is over. All of our Victory Kids volunteers have been prescreened with federal and local background checks.

WHAT KIND OF CHURCH IS VICTORY?

We are a contemporary church which voluntarily cooperates with the Assemblies of God Fellowship as a part of the Potomac Ministry Network . We have great relationships with churches of other dominations and types on the Peninsula and enjoy worshipping with them together in Christ.

WHAT Does Victory Believe?

We believe in Christianity that is anchored in "The Holy Scripture, The Holy Spirit and The Holy Community of Faith" i.e. the Scripture, the Spirit and the Space. We believe the Bible is the rock that we build a strong faith on and build a loving and healthy church to make friends and live life with.

With that said, we believe in a historical and dynamic Christian faith which confesses through the Nicene Creed:

WE believe in God, the Father Almighty,
the Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:

Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit,
        born of the Virgin Mary,
        suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.

The third day He arose again from the dead.
        He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
from where He is coming to judge the living and the dead.

WE believe in the Holy Spirit,
        the universal church,
        the communion of saints,
        the forgiveness of sins,
        the resurrection of the body,
        and life everlasting.

We are affiliated with the Assemblies of God, which is an awesome fellowship of churches! For a more in-depth conversation on doctrine you can click over to the official Assemblies of God website here and email Pastor Jamé, for any big heady theological ideas or questions!

Women IN Leadership @ Victory Church

Since our beginning in 1914 the Assemblies of God has always believed and encouraged all people to seek the calling of God on their life, including women. We are what is considered an egalitarian church believing both men and women posses the ability to be active in ministry equally.
