Discover What Faith Can Do
Trial and triumph, doubt and discovery, experience and evolvement... spirituality is the greatest journey of one’s life. Most people believe in God, but have yet to experience the fullness of God.
Victory Church is a place where people are welcomed to belong without being judged. We believe that everyone can have a tangible relationship with Jesus and apply His word in their everyday lives.
We are committed to helping people understand and access the transforming power of God. We respect where people are in their walk and will patiently help them navigate how to become more Christ like. We are a church dedicated to growing each individual’s whole life and believe that the word of God changes lives.
This is the place where people learn how to better lead themselves and their families, strengthen marriages, manage their resources, heal from tragedy and move in their calling.
We value excellence in the creative arts to inspire authentic worship and we create space for deep connection with the spirit of God. Victory Church is deeply concerned for the next generation of the faith. We are a church that actively supports our children from cradle to college and into the workforce. We place great value in intergenerational mentoring where juniors and seniors can learn from each other.
Becoming sacrificially selfless is key to every believer’s spiritual growth. We are a church that is generous with our time, talent and treasure. Together, we participate in community service, global missions and contribute to other ministries and community-based organizations.
Victory Church is where life happens. We are a family bonded by the love of Jesus. We promote scriptural living. We aim to encourage people to embrace the purpose God has designed for them. We aim to empower people to live their lives, not just endure their lives and help them see that obstacles are opportunities meant to build them up.
We are VICTORY CHURCH.

Thank you so much for considering attending Victory. Visiting anywhere for the first time can be frustrating so here's a page to help you enjoy the experience and get the most out of your first visit.
Our Sunday Morning Worship (10:30am) is our main worship time. It's a high energy service that follows an order service that starts with an short opening, then a time of great & moving music, some announcements, and then a time of insightful Bible teaching. We close with an offering and we ask everyone to fill out a Communication Card.
Our Wednesday Family Night (6:30pm) is a more relaxed Q&A prayer combination service as well as Royal Rangers (a ministry for boys) & Girls Impact Club (an age appropriate ministry for girls.) On Wednesday we thrive on group discussion on a variety of topics from prayer, spiritual gifts and other biblical studies.
Yorktown and Poquoson are known for water culture so we're a very casual place. Our only dress code is that you wear clothes. In the summer, we want you to stay cool but stay covered. Feel free to dress formally though you won't find many at our services dressed up. Our pastor usually wears jeans and a jacket.
We love our kids! That's why we have the Victory Kids! It's a safe and healthy environment for them to experience God in an age-appropriate way. Infants to Preschoolers are cared for during the entire service. Our elementary aged children will go to the #blueroom for the Victory Kids service. Sixth grade and older remain in the main service though sometimes they help out with the younger children.
In Victory Kids, your children will laugh, learn and will meet Jesus on a level appropriate to their age. Pastor Chris Alix, our Student Ministry Pastor, provides age-appropriate worship and prayer, theme-related snack ideas, review of the Bible story, and hands-on activity centers to practice Bible truths.
All children's ministries are located off the main worship area. When you show up to Victory Kids you will be asked to sign your child "in and out." Once you sign in, you will receive a name tag with a number on it. That name tag will be required to sign out your child once the service is over. All of our Victory Kids volunteers have been prescreened with federal and local background checks.
We are a Christian church affiliated through fellowship and accountability with the Assemblies of God, and are part of the Potomac Ministry Network. We have great relationships with churches of other types and denominations on the Peninsula and enjoy worshipping with them as well.
We believe in biblical Christianity that is anchored in "Word and Worship" i.e. "word" of God & Spirit led "worship". To put it simply, we try to re-discover the Book of Acts in everyday life. We value four major theological categories: Salvation, Evangelism, Discipleship, and Compassion.
With that said, we believe in a historical and dynamic Christian faith which confesses:
WE believe in God, the Father Almighty,
the Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
The third day He arose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
from where He is coming to judge the living and the dead.
WE believe in the Holy Spirit,
the universal church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
We are affiliated with the Assemblies of God, which is an awesome fellowship of churches! For a more in-depth conversation on doctrine you can click over to the official Assemblies of God website here and email Pastor Jame, for any big heady theological ideas.
The AG is a worldwide group of churches held together in relationship, committed to training leaders, planting churches and reaching the nations. There are fellowships in over 200 countries across the world who are affiliated with the Assemblies of God with approximately 3 million believers worshipping together in churches here in the USA & 60 million worldwide. You can find out more about the history of the AG by visiting their website.
We value relationship and believe as a church we can achieve more with other like-minded churches than we can on our own. We value accountability and believe we can benefit by being in relationship with other like-minded churches and leaders. We value people and believe we can empower individuals, train leaders and be more effective by being part of a wider movement.

Pastor Jennifer Bolds is passionate about helping families and marriages to be spiritually and emotionally whole -- she is also equally passionate about the worship ministry. A native of Long Island, Pastor Jennifer comes from a comical Italian family, drives like a New Yorker & embraces the calling of motherhood.
As the Family Care & Worship Pastor she oversees the Victory Groups, counseling and music ministry. She is a professional musician with a talent in singing and playing the piano. She is also a practicing marriage and family therapist as well as a Licensed Minister with the Assemblies of God.
Pastor Jennifer holds the SDI Certification with Personal Strengths as a facilitator for managing conflict and improving relationships as well as FOCCUS premarital counseling inventory designed to prepare couples for marriage.
Pastor Jennifer earned a B.A. in Music Education at Southeastern University and an M.A. in Counseling with a concentration in mental health & marriage and family therapy from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
Pastor Chris is motivated by one word: Relationships. He sees the world driven by relationships and loves the feeling of growing our VKids, Tweens and Teenagers.
Pastor Chris comes to us from New Orleans where he was involved in discipleship and missions ministry. He is a veteran of ministry from various areas such as California's Bay Area as a children, youth and outreach pastor, as well as a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. He loves his Cajun wife and boys who fill his days with discovery and testosterone.
The Student Ministry Pastor is a unique calling -- it is the pastor that teaches and grows our youth from cradle to college. Pastor Chris is passionate and dedicated to the students of Victory and helping them to discover the fullness of God throughout their stages of life.
Pastor Chris is a Licensed Minister with the Assemblies of God who has earned a B.A. from the School of Urban Missions in Oakland, CA, and an M.Div. from Regent University Divinity School.
Jennifer "Jenny" Henderson, is our Church Ministries Coordinator here at Victory. Her sole job is to organize the pastoral staff, tell them where to be and work that schedule. She is the glue and engine that keeps this place together and moving.
When she's not bossing the pastors around, she is the CEO of JLH Consulting, a business consultancy, whose mission is to help local firms get organized (now you know why she works here!). Formerly she was the founder of Aunt Jenny's Cupcakes where she kept the Peninsula well sugared.
Mark and Stephenie Shanks come to Victory as +25 year ministry veterans in the mega church environment. They have had a dizzying array of ministry experience from nursery, to missions, to small groups, and all the people craziness that comes with ministry spanning three continents.
As Ministers in Residence, Mark & Stephenie are refining their pastoral calling in the areas of missions and discipleship. Given that, Mark is the Victory "outreach champion", responsible for "neighborhood to nations" missions support. Stephenie is a swiss army knife of ministry who finds her niche in discipleship by co-leading Wednesday Night Prayer with Pastor Jamé and helping coordinate the Victory Groups ( join a small group!).
They completed the Potomac School of Ministry and are Licensed Ministers with the Assemblies of God
