God has called us to a MISSION. This mission is to go everywhere, to every country, to every people group, and tell the message of the Gospel. That’s what ‘world missions’ means. It’s what millions of Christians have already been doing ever since Jesus gave us this mission. But there is still work to be done to complete the mission... The Mission in Scripture: “And then Jesus told his disciples, ‘Go into all the world and preach the good news to everyone.’” (Mark 16:15) An ‘unreached person’ is someone who doesn’t have access to the Gospel, the Bible, or a local church. In other words, they will never know Jesus unless someone goes to tell them how to be saved. An ‘unreached people group’ is a distinct ethnic group with their own language or dialect, who doesn’t have access to the Gospel, the Bible, or a local church. Number of unreached people groups in today’s world: 6,951 Number of unreached persons in today’s world: 2.8 BILLION! The calling to reach the entire world with the love of God goes all the way back to Abraham. In case you’ve never heard of Abraham, he’s a dude who lived a LOOOOOOOOOONG time ago, and basically started the nation of Israel. Just to help you put the pieces together... Jesus was born as an Israelite. In other words, Abraham’s obedience started the process that resulted in the salvation of the human race. Anyway, way back in the day, when God first spoke to Abraham and told him to start this new nation, he “blessed” Abraham. That means God would help him, protect him, provide for him... Stuff like that. But here’s the twist: When God blessed Abraham, he told him that the purpose of the blessing was so that through Abraham, the whole world could be blessed. Read it for yourself in Genesis 22. The point is that Abraham wasn’t supposed to hoard the blessing (the good stuff) for himself. He was supposed to share it with a world that desperately needed a relationship with God. Abraham was supposed to be a connection point for other people to experience God. The same idea applies to you. Your relationship with God isn’t just for you. Like every great experience, It’s meant to be shared. Now YOU are a connection point. |
